Blessing of the Animals to be held in Hallowell Oct. 1

HALLOWELL — Animal lovers are invited to bring their pet companions to a Blessing of the Animals hosted by Cox Memorial United Methodist Church at Hallowell’s Granite Park at Waterfront Park, 50 Howard St., Sunday, Oct. 1 at 1 p.m.
The service of blessing will include a brief celebration of the unique relationship and covenant shared with all animals in creation and pets in particular, as well as an individual time of blessing for each animal and care-giver.

There will also be a time to honor and memorialize pet companions who have shared our lives in the past. All creatures great and small are welcome but must be leashed, haltered or in a carrier.
In the event of rain, the Blessing of the Animals celebration will be held at the church, located at Middle and Central streets.
