LIVERMORE — Friends and relatives of Jim and Jolene Kennison gathered at Wayside Bible Baptist Church to celebrate the couple’s 50th wedding anniversary on July 8.

The event began with a prayer at the couple’s long-time church, with the Rev. Dan Corff, pastor, presiding. Those in attendance had come from as far as Georgia and North Carolina.

Two of Jim Kennison’s classmates, Russell Hallowell and Gerald Ham, attneded, as did Warren Davenport, who was the best man at the wedding. Hugh Lemaster, the son of the Rev. Joe Lemaster, who presided at the 1967 wedding, represented his father at the party.

A buffet luncheon was served while music from the 1960s filled the background. Music videos were shown that included one of the couple’s favorites, “I Got You Babe,” by Sonny and Cher. Barry Wood treated the guests to several requested songs before the anniversary cake was cut and distributed.

Before ending the celebration, many guests lined up for pictures with the Kennisons. To close the afternoon, Jim Kennison’s Aunt Phoebe read a poem about the couple’s life together.
