RANGELEY — The Rangeley Oktoberfest Weekend schedules of events have been announced, and range from a bratwurst and strudel contest to stein hoisting competitions.
The weekend, which is Thursday, Sept. 28, to Sunday Oct. 1, also features special menus at many restaurants in Rangeley and Oquossoc, and coincides with the Maine Forestry Museum’s 25th annual Apple Festival.
The weekend kicks off with the annual Brat & Strudel Contest from 5 to 7 p.m. on Thursday, at the Rangeley Tavern. Entrants will put forth their best brat and strudel and the public is invited to taste samples.
Entrants so far include Blue Orchid, Forks in the Air, Inner Eye, Just Desserts, Moose Alley, Rangeley IGA, Sarge’s Pub and The Shed.
Thursday will also include the Kids Harvest Party and Stein Hoisting semifinals. Stein Hoisting semifinals will also take place Friday.
Saturday events include the Maine Forestry Museum’s 25th annual Apple Festival, Horse and Wagon Rides, Sam Adams Beer Chugging Contest & German Beer Hall Lunch, the movie “Hacksaw Ridge,” Stein Hoisting finals.
Sunday’s events include the Katzenjammer Brunch, Oktoberfest Family Fitness, the Red Flannel Hash Experience, the Katzenjammer Lunch.
