BETHEL — Mahoosuc Land Trust and area organizations and businesses will host a variety of events to celebrate Great Maine Outdoor Weekend Saturday, Sept. 30 and Sunday, Oct. 1.
Aside from Saturday night’s film, events will be at Valentine Farm, 162 North Road.
The film “Community Conservation: Finding the Balance Between Nature and Culture,” which profiles four land trusts in Maine and their work to involve community members in conservation efforts, will be shown at 3:30 p.m. Saturday, in The Gem Theater, 23 Cross St.
Also Saturday, a reception for the 2017 Art Show participants will be held, and works will be for sale, 7 p.m., Valentine Farm. Refreshments will be served.
The grand opening of the universally accessible trail will be from 1:30 to 3:30 p.m., Sunday, Valentine Farm. The trail is designed for use by everyone — strollers, walkers and wheelchairs. Maine Adaptive and Bethel Area Age-Friendly Community Initiative will have adaptive equipment and tools to try.
Other events include a mushroom walk and talk with Amanda Moran; the art show; fairy house making for children; and chair caning, fly tying, garden hoe sharpening, artists at work demonstration.
There will be a potluck barbecue, at which the land trust will provide the beef and veggie burgers, hot dogs and drinks, and participants can bring a dish to share and a lawn chair, beginning at 3:30-4:30 p.m.
Great Maine Outdoor Weekend is a state-wide initiative designed to get people outdoors and exploring Maine.
