MANCHESTER — The Manchester Lions Club will host the Central Maine Amazing Race Saturday, Sept. 23, to assist an area resident with the purchase of a pair of eSight eyeglasses that will help her regain the vision she lost 17 years ago.
The glasses are the newest in technology advances to help those with low vision regain their independence, organizers said in a news release.
The race will begin and end at the Manchester Lions Club. From there 20 teams will participate in challenges throughout the surrounding towns. The teams will compete in various challenges earning points along the way. Teams also can accrue additional points based on pledge collected.
Following the race, there will be a lobster/barbecue chicken benefit dinner, open to the public. Dinners are available for take-out as well.
Tickets must be purchased in advance (even for take-out orders) by calling Lion Deb Maddox at 207-441-9906.
During dinner, highlights of the race will be shown and awards presented to the winning teams and top fundraisers. If interested in participating in the race, a few team slots are still available.
