Maine Supreme Court to hear cases at Mountain Valley High School Oct. 13

RUMFORD — Maine’s Supreme Judicial Court will visit Mountain Valley High School on Friday, Oct. 13 in a session that students from Buckfield Junior Senior High School and Dirigo High School in Dixfield are invited to attend as well.
During the visit, the Court will listen to oral arguments in appellate court cases on cases the students have been briefed on in advance. Following the oral arguments, lawyers will stay to answer the students’s questions.

“This event is a rare alternative learning opportunity that will provide students with important exposure to the practice of appellate law,” said Sen. Lisa Keim, R-Oxford, who, along with the Senate Judiciary Committee, inviting the Court to Rumford. “It has been years since students in Oxford County have had this unique opportunity. I am delighted that the Supreme Judicial Court accepted my invitation and look forward to attending this special event.
