Museum L-A adds weaving looms, spinning wheels to collection

LEWISTON — Museum L-A recently received two weaving looms and two spinning wheels from the American Textile Museum of Lowell, Mass., for its Collections and Education Departments.
The looms and spinning wheels will be used in the future as the museum develops its design studio, which will offer hands-on education to the public, according to a news release from the museum, which is at 35 Canal St. in the former Bates Mill.

The studio will serve as a resource library to educators, artists and community members; educational classes; and a place where people will have access to the equipment to learn and explore, the release said. Specifics on programming will be announced at a later date.
The museum is open from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tuesday through Friday, and 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday.
