Award-winning Maine author Pelletier to be at Carrabasset Valley Library Sept. 30

CARRABASSET VALLEY — Award-winning Maine author Cathie Pelletier will be at the Carrabassett Valley Public Library at 4:30 Saturday, Sept. 30. Pelletier, who lives in Allagash, is the author of 12 novels, 10 under her own name, beginning with “The Funeral Makers.” Her newest novel, “A Year After Henry,” was a recent finalist for the Maine Fiction Award.

Her first middle grade novel, “The Summer Experiment,” was published in 1994. She wrote two novels under the pseudonym of K. C. McKinnon, “Dancing at the Harvest Moon,” and “Candles on Bay Street,” the latter earning a million dollar advance. The first McKinnon novel was translated into 19 languages and was a CBS TV film.The second was translated into 16 languages and was a Hallmark Hall of Fame film.

Her novel “The Weight of Winter” won the New England Booksellers Award, and in 2006, “Running the Bulls” won the Paterson Prize for Fiction. She was also presented with the Bernie Schweid Award from Tennessee Booksellers.
