Winthrop PTA Sept. 24 Color Fun Run to include obstacle course

Sep. 92017

WINTHROP — The Winthrop Schools Parent-Teacher Association will host the Winthrop Warriors Fun Run Color Run from noon to 4 p.m. on Sunday, Sept. 24.
Last year’s event, the first year for the run, was the PTA’s the biggest fundraiser, raising more than $5,500 dollars, which was put back into the school system in the form of grants, field trips, enrichment day and many other programs throughout the school where funding lacks, according to a news release from the PTA.

Following the success of last year’s run, the PTA voted to host it for a second time, with a few changes.
With the help of some sponsors, this year’s run will feature an obstacle course, and be held at the Roger Guerrette Community Trail, located behind Winthrop High School. Promising bigger, better colors, the PTA is hopeful that, once again, the run is a major success.
The Winthrop Schools PTA is a crucial element of the Winthrop School system, the organization noted. It’s primary focus is the well-being of the school and the students, faculty and staff. Without the hard work of the organization’s volunteers, many of the events and activities that help make the school year enjoyable would not be possible, including many field trips and special events like field day and enrichment day.
To register to participate in the 2017 Winthrop Warriors Color Fun Run and Obstacle course, visit www.eventbrite.com or visit its Facebook page. For more information about the PTA, or to volunteer, email pta@winthropschools.org.
