MONMOUTH — The Monmouth Weekend Backpack program is seeking food donations to help the town’s families in need this year. This is the third year the program has provided donations for families in need.
Last year, 23 families were served with the program.
The first week of this year’s program begins Thursday, Sept. 14.
The program depends entirely on donations of money and goods from the public as well as makes use of the Monmouth Food Pantry. The program needs peanut butter, jelly in plastic containers, tuna fish in cans or pouches, soups (no “cream of”), granola bars, breakfast bars, graham crackers and cracker packets, microwave packets of popcorn. For more information, contact Henry L. Cottrell School and Monmouth Middle School. Families may sign up to receive weekend backpacks by contacting the schools and making a request.
