Red Cross helps three central Maine families after Labor Day weekend disasters

PORTLAND — The American Red Cross was busy the weekend of Sept. 1 in central Maine, helping families affected by fire and a falling limb in Sabattus, Farmingdale and Vassalboro.
A Disaster Action Team from the American Red Cross of Maine worked with a family of two from Sabattus after a Sunday, Sept. 3, single-family home fire, to ensure they had food, a safe place to sleep and other essentials.
A team worked also worked with a Farmingdale family of eight after a Friday, Sept. 1, fire.

A family of five was also forced to leave its Vassalboro home after a limb feel on it, making it inhabitable, on Friday, Sept. 1.
The Red Cross will remain in contact with all the families, making sure they continue to have support on their road to recover, the organization said in a news release.
