Half Moon Jug plan to play in school benefit Sept. 23

CASCO — The Half Moon Jug Band will hold a musical barbecue and pony ride show to benefit the nonprofit Jackman Preschool, on Saturday, Sept. 23 at the Carousel Horse Farm, 69 Leach Road. The event will take place from 2 to 7 p.m.

There will be pony rides, wagon rides for families, a pig roast and a corn hole tournament. A barbecue dinner will be followed by a Half Moon Jug Band concert. The proceeds will go to the Jackman Preschool, in Jackman, which relies on volunteers each class day and on fundraisers throughout the year to provide scholarships for economically disadvantaged families.

The Somerset County town recently lost its 24-hour medical center and nursing home because of a lack of funding. “This is why it’s so important to suppport non-profit community organizations like the Jackman Preschool,” a news release said. The Half Moon Jug Band band uses banjos, guitars, saxophones and kazoos and relies on audience participation and fun.
