Phillips Old Home Days winners announced

PHILLIPS — Winners in the Old Home Days competitions have been announced. The theme for 59th year of the week-long celebration, which began Aug. 13, was “My Favorite Fairy Tale.”
Photo contest winners were: People, first place and judge’s choice, All Smiles, Meg Crockett; second, Ru-Ru, Bailea Haines; third, SidneyMae, Michelle Kane. Animals, first place, Fatso, Meg Crockett; second, Moth, Lori Burgess; third, Roosters, Susan Mecham.

Scenery, first place, Rainy Day, Peyton Richard; second, Small Falls 1, Lori Burgess; third, Moonshine, Penny Ross. Fairy Tale, first place, Peter Pan 1, Lori Burgess; second, Peter Pan 2, Lori Burgess; third place, Easter Bunny, Diana McCall. Black & White-, first place, Eat More Chicken, Debby Pelham, second, Take Pride, Sandy Grignon; third, Into the Mist, Meg Crockett.
Flower show winners were: Whimsical Fairy Flower Pot, first place, Diana McCall; second, Sonya Hardy; third, Johanna Roy. 21st Century Fairy Tale, first place, Diana McCall. Dreams Do Come True, first place, Diana McCall. Happily Ever After, first place, Paula Kane. Children’s Class, first place and judge’s choice, Lillian Pinkham.
Children’s Parade winners were: Most Entertaining, Gingerbread Kids (Wyatt Gordon, Brinlee and Clara); Best Overall Group, No Trolls Left Behind (Denver Smith, Brooklyn Smith, Emmi Poulin, Peyton Ladd, Jackson Foss, Kallee Foss, Nevaeh Fall, Finn Toothaker, Manny Viles and Lex Taylor); Best Costume, Red Riding Hood (Acadia Averill); Best Individual, MaAna (Francesca Hill); Most Relevant to Theme, Phillips Sleeping Queen (Vanessa Barker Queen 2017, Trent Barker, Clayton Murray King 2017, Junior Murray and Samuel Haines.)
Drawings: Winner of the King/Queen $100 gift certificate to Edmunds’ Market, Paula Viles; winner of the two bicycles donated by Mike and Ginny Auger for the Margie Toothaker Scholarship Fund, David Morgan.
Volleyball: first place, Bust-A-Net; second, Mid-Life Crisis; third, Moose Knuckles (seven teams played).
Horseshoes: first place, Chad Beedy/Dalton Gordon; second, Larry Campbell/ Keith White; third, Dani Smith/James Flagg.
Lumberman Competition: first place, Pete White (13th year in a row); Honored Lumberman was Guy “Sonny” Haines, who received a plaque for his hard devoted work in the Maine woods.
Frog Jumping Contest: first place, Clayton Murray, 94 inches; second, Kyli Phillips; Most Unique, Connor Dyer with his blue frog (28 jumpers competed).
Parade Most Beautiful: First place, The End with horses (Sonya Hardy); second place, Golden Touch, King Midas; third place, WMCA.
Funniest, first place, Willie Wonka (Girl Scout Troop 54); second place, Jack and the Bean Stalk (Smith Family); third place, 1952 Jeep, Red Riding Hood (Joe Paul).
Parade youth winners: First place, Pied Pipers (Girl Scout Troop 1531); second, Three Little Pigs (Jordan family); third, Alice in Wonderland (Thomas family).

Parade Judge’s Choice: Wizard of Oz(Abbott/Auger families).
