Community Credit Union donates to Poland Community Church Food Pantry

LEWISTON – Community Credit Union recently presented the Poland Community Church Food Pantry a donation in the amount of $250. The food pantry supports between 135 and 150 families each month and also provides support to families who have been displaced because of things such as a fire, according to a news release from the credit union.

The food pantry also raises money through a thrift shop.

The donation was part of Community Credit Union’s participation in the Maine Credit Union League’s Campaign for Ending Hunger. Maine credit unions have raised more than $7.2 million since 1990 to help end hunger in Maine, according to the release. At the end of each year, 100 percent of the money raised by each individual participating credit union is given back to that credit union to be distributed to hunger organization in their community. In 2016, participating credit unions raised a record total of $674,000 for campaign.

Community Credit Union has branches at 144 Pine St., as well as 40 Stanley St. in Auburn and 1025 Auburn Road in Turner.
