NORWAY — Jim Douglas, director at Healthy Oxford Hills, has announce Emily Knapp has recently accepted a new position as the strategic support coordinator for Oxford County Wellness Collaborative. Healthy Oxford Hills, a project of Stephens Memorial Hospital, has served as the administrative home of OCWC since its inception in 2012.
Knapp is an Oxford County native, having grown up in the foothills of Roxbury Village, a town just outside Rumford. A graduate of Mountain Valley High School, Knapp attended the University of Maine Farmington, where she recently earned her bachelor’s degree in community health education. A requirement for her degree was to complete a 600-hour internship, which she did with Healthy Oxford Hills throughout this past spring. She then continued SNAP-Ed nutrition education work at Healthy Oxford Hills on a contractual basis.
In her new role, Knapp will be providing critical support functions within the collaborative, helping to facilitate OCWC’s community events and work groups, supporting strategy implementation, and assisting with data input and analysis within an online strategy management system.
“I am very excited to be a part of this initiative,” Knapp said. “While doing my internship, I got to familiarize myself with OCWC work and enjoyed it. We all want the communities we live in to be the healthiest they can be. OCWC is making strides to make that happen here in Oxford County. This new chapter will be a great learning experience.”
Along with this new role, Knapp will continue to work part time as office manager for Healthy Oxford Hills; she will be in charge of HOH communications including updating event calendars on the HOH Facebook page and website, creating monthly newsletters, as well as office duties such as management of supplies, assisting other team members working on tobacco, substance use and obesity prevention, and providing resources to the public.
