BRIDGTON — The AARP Smart Driver course will be offered at the Bridgton Community Center on Friday, Sept. 29. The course will run from 10 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. at the center, 15 Depot St. Advance registration no later than Friday, Sept. 22 is requested as class size is limited.
The four-hour refresher course is for experienced drivers 50 years of age and older. Topics include safe driving strategies, defensive driving techniques, new traffic laws and rules of the road. There are no written tests. The class helps drivers adjust to age-related changes in vision, hearing and reaction time. Drivers in Maine 55 years of age and older are entitled to discounts on their insurance premiums for three years after taking or re-taking this course.
