Applications being taken for Kids of Franklin after school program

FARMINGTON — The 21st Century Kids of Franklin after school program begins Sept. 25, and will run from 3 to 5 p.m. Monday through Thursday at at W.G. Mallett School and Academy Hill schools.
“Research shows that 21st Century programs can support working families by keeping children engaged and safe during the hours after school,” said a news release. “Students will be challenged with fun and exciting academic enrichment activities including tutoring, homework help, mentoring, arts (music, theater, and drama), prevention, reading, STEM, physical activities and more.”

The program is for children who are entering kindergarten through those entering fifth grade in Cascade Brook, Academy Hill, G.D. Cushing and W.G. Mallett schools. There is no free for the program, which is supported by the Franklin County Children’s Task Force and the Mt. Blue school district. Those who wish to enroll a child in the program must apply and will be notified once the the child is accepted.
