WAYNE — The Cary Memorial Library will host mystery author Maureen Milliken Monday, Aug. 14, at noon as part of its Brown Bag Lunch series. A journalist most recently with the Waterville Sentinel, Milliken has more than 30 years under her belt at daily newspapers in Maine, New Hampshire and Massachusetts. She grew up in Augusta and is proud to be part of a three-generation newspaper-editor legacy. She now devotes her time to mystery writing.

According to her website, the Bernie O’Dea mystery series reflects not only her love for all that is Maine but also her “lifelong affection for the newspaper industry and fascination, of course, with the darker side of life.” Her first book, “Cold Hard News” was published in July 2015; the second, “No News is Bad News, was released in July. Her third in the series is due out shortly.

The public is invited to attend this free event. Bring a bag lunch (beverages provided) to this informal presentation. The library, located at 17 Old Winthrop Road, just off Route 133, is handicapped accessible. For additional information, call 207-685-3612.
