Fourth grade art project under way

Jul. 102017

The Winthrop Grade School’s fourth grade class of 80 students is currently completing a respect mural in the grade school’s outdoor classroom. The respect mural was a concept presented by Kathy Eldridge, a fourth grade teacher, and made possible through the collaboration of parent Amber Desrosiers, local artist Kate Harris, service learning and play outside coordinator Margy Knight, and the donation of exterior paints and paint supplies from Audette’s Ace Hardware, 22 Peck Farm Road.

The respect mural was selected as a service learning project to enhance the outdoor classroom, support school instruction, and encourage respect of school property. The mural combines individual artistic concepts to showcase one representation of respect for classmates, environment, family, friends, pets, school and sports. The fourth grade class is scheduled to complete the mural July 18. (Submitted photo)
