Monmouth Fair is Aug. 2-5 with something for everyone

MONMOUTH — The Monmouth Fair will take place from Wednesday, Aug. 2 to Saturday, Aug. 5, and events will include everything from beano to pig scrambles.
There will be bike drawings every day, a pedal tractor pull, frying pan toss and hay bale toss; beano is every evening and all day Saturday; pig scrambles Thursday, Friday, and Saturday afternoons; the He Man/She Woman Course on Friday night; Backseat Driver’s Contests on Friday and Saturday for ages 5 through 95; and the Redneck Truck Pull Friday night.

There are also crafts, art­work, hobbies, needlework, farm produce, flowers, baking or canning for ribbons and cash prizes, and anyone is welcome to enter.
This year’s special contest is for the best homemade jerky – it can even be turkey jerky. There is also a scarcrow contest, which is a great family project. Exhibition Hall entries are accepted on Wednesday evening, Aug. 3, and Thursday morning, Aug. 4.
Fair-goers can also make ice cream at the museum, pet the animals, weave on the community loom, shop in the marketplace, and ride the carnival rides. There is live entertain­ment every night and all of the standard fair food, exhibits and agricultural contests and displays.
