Sandy River Ramblers to perform benefit for Route 27 Arts July 8

STRATTON — The Sandy River Ramblers will perform 7 p.m. Saturday, July 8, at the Stratton Community Building, 88 Main St., in a benefit for Route 27 Arts.

The Ramblers’ bluegrass repertoire includes many original songs about Maine, and the band features Madrid’s Bud Godsoe on the banjo, fiddler Brendan Hickey, lead singer Dana Reynolds, bassist Julie Davenport and guitarist Stan Keach, who also writes most of the songs for the band.

The Rambler’s CD, “Cry of the Loon and other original songs about Maine,” has been called “a gift to Mainers” by Maine writer George Smith. The Ramblers will perform many songs from the album, including “Slow Down (You’ll Hit a Moose),” and “Boots From L.L. Bean.” There will also be songs from their upcoming CD.

Admission is $10 for adults, $5 for students 6 to 18 and free admission for children under 6. Refreshments will be sold at intermission. For more information, call Route 27 Arts at 246-2300.

Route 27 Arts is a community arts group that is devoted to bringing music and visual arts to the area, including raising money for Flagstaff Elementary School to enhance students’ arts experience.
