NEW GLOUCESTER – Quinn Lamoureux had no idea what was waiting for him and his classmates when theyreturned from a recent school trip. Their teacher, Madeline Audette, had decorated their fourth-grade classroom at Dunn Elementary School for a party – and unbeknownst to Quinn, he was the guest of honor.
For the last four years, the New Gloucester resident has been raising money to benefit patient care and support at Androscoggin Home Care & Hospice’s Hospice House in Auburn. He’s made those donations while participating in the organization’s annual 5K and Remembrance Walk in Farmington as a member of the Juddy’s Joggernots team, named after his late great grandfather, Paul Judkins. As in previous years, Lamoureux was the top fundraiser in the youth division in 2017.
Staff from Androscoggin Home Care & Hospice visited the school to personally thank Lamoureux and to present him with an award in recognition of his selfless acts of generosity.
“It’s impressive for someone so young to dedicate his time and energy to making a difference in the lives of others,” said Kenneth Albert, president and CEO of AHCH. “This is a young man who asks his friends not to bring birthday presents to his party. Instead, he asks them to make a donation to our organization. In the last four years, he’s raised nearly $3,000 that directly supports hospice patients who cannot afford care. We are inspired by Quinn’s efforts and wanted him to know how much we appreciate what he has done for our patients.”
Along with the award, Lamoureux received a gift basket from his teacher and a card signed by all of his classmates. AHCH also brought cupcakes that were enjoyed by the entire class.
