SPRINGFIELD, Mass. — Ashley P. DeBlois, of Monmouth, Maine, took part in the Western New England University spring production of “Beauty and the Beast,” which was performed in front of sold-out audiences at the university.
DeBlois, props coordinator for the production, is a sophomore criminal justice major. She has been involved with the Stageless Players since her freshman year and participated in the production of “Legally Blonde” and “The Servant of Two Masters.” She has worked on multiple plays in high school including, “Charlotte’s Web,” and “The Least Offensive Play in the Whole Darn World.”
Based on the 1740 French fairy tale “La Belle et La Bete,” “‘Beauty and the Beast’ resonates with all ages, which accounts for its longevity,” said directors Hillary Haft Bucs and Alexandria Escribano. “It has a compelling story, its themes are universal, and it touches the audience in many ways.
