Maine – Collins meets with Maine Health Representatives

Jun. 172026

Senator Collins met with representatives of the Maine Health Care Association to discuss issues affecting long-term care providers in Maine, including workforce shortages, Medicare Advantage billing practices, and access to post-acute care coverage. They discussed several legislative priorities, including Senator Collins’ Improving Access to Medicare Coverage Act, which would ensure that time spent in a hospital under observation status counts toward Medicare’s three-day hospital stay requirement for skilled nursing care.

Senator Collins has long worked to support Maine’s seniors and long-term care providers, including by co-leading the Train More Nurses Act to address nursing shortages and supporting bipartisan efforts to strengthen the health care workforce, reduce delays and denials for patients, and improve access to care.
