LEWISTON — The Franco Center will welcome acclaimed Elton John tribute artist Bill Connors, known as “The American Elton,” for a high-energy night of music on Friday, April 24.
Doors and a cash bar open at 6 p.m., followed by the concert at 7 p.m. Tickets are available through the Franco Center box office and online.
Connors brings Elton John’s iconic catalog to life with dazzling costumes, dynamic piano performances and vocals that closely mirror the legendary artist, according to his publicist.
“Experience this spectacular evening of music and nostalgia at the Franco Center,” said Production Manager Jake Hodgkin, who called the performance “a fun, high-energy show that gets audiences singing along from start to finish.”
Daniel C. Abrahmsen, president of DCA Productions, which manages the American Elton show, described the production as “more than a tribute show.”
“It’s an immersive experience that takes audiences on a journey through the music of one of the greatest artists of all time,” Abrahmsen said. “Our team works tirelessly to create a show that honors Elton John’s music and legacy in a powerful and memorable way.”
Abrahmsen said Connors captures the essence of Elton John’s voice with “remarkable precision,” from soaring falsettos to deeper tones, paired with “colorful, larger-than-life costumes and an engaging stage presence.”
“Fans often feel like they’re experiencing the real thing,” he said.
Executive Director Theresa Shanahan said community support plays a key role in bringing performances like this to the stage.
“I am very pleased that our sponsors have shown their support for this show,” Shanahan said, recognizing Emerson Chevrolet, Skelton Taintor & Abbott, Androscoggin Bank and Evergreen Printing. “Their sponsorship allows us to continue preserving Franco-American heritage through live performances, celebrations and educational programming.”
Tickets are $30 in advance and $35 at the door, if available.
“Tickets have been selling well, so we encourage people to purchase early,” Shanahan said. “We don’t want anyone to miss out on what will be a fantastic night.”
Tickets can be purchased online at www.francocenter.org, by phone at 207-689-2000, or in person at the box office from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tuesday and Wednesday. The Franco Center is located at 46 Cedar St. in Lewiston. The venue is accessible via elevator at the Lincoln Street alley entrance. Parking is available in the mill lot on Oxford Street.
