AUBURN – The holiday season has arrived, and the City of Auburn is excited to welcome residents and visitors alike to downtown Auburn this Christmas.

The city will officially kick off the season on Sunday, December 7 at 3:30PM with its annual Christmas Parade and Tree Lighting event. “The Christmas Parade is always such a big hit with local families,” said Liz Allen, the city’s director of communications and community engagement. “We’re kicking off the holiday season in style!
The parade steps off at 3:30 p.m. and will travel down Main Street from New Auburn to Festival Plaza, where Santa and Mayor Jeff Harmon will light our gorgeous tree.” During the festivities, the Auburn Business Association will offer free hot cocoa—generously donated by Dunkin Donuts—along with free mittens and gloves. Children will also have the chance to write letters to Santa and take photos with him.
At approximately 4:15 p.m., Mayor Jeff Harmon, joined by his good friend Santa, will light Auburn’s official Christmas tree: a stunning 40-foot fir lovingly donated by Courtney and Ryan Colgan of Broadview Avenue. The tree holds special meaning for the family—it was transplanted to their front yard more than 40 years ago by Courtney’s grandfather. “We hope everyone will join us this Sunday for Auburn’s official kick-off for Christmas,” added Allen. “We’re excited to light up our downtown for the holidays!”
