Sandy River Girl Scout Cookie Rally
75 girls participated in the annual Girl Scout Cookie Rally on 1/26/25 from 1-3p at University of Maine at Farmington. The girls are part of the Sandy River Service Unit which consists of girls living in Stratton, Rangeley, Phillips, Strong, Farmington, Wilton, Livermore Falls, Jay, Fayette, Vienna, Mt. Vernon, Dixfield, Mexico, and Rumford and all towns in between. Girl Scout Troop 2205 hosted and planned the rally. Troop 2205 consists of girls in grades 7 (Cadettes) through 10 (Seniors) from the Farmington area. The purpose of a cookie rally is to get Girl Scouts of all levels excited to sell Girl Scout Cookies. The rally focuses on teaching skills they learn by selling cookies. The five skills are money management, goal setting, decision making, people skills, and business ethics. The girls rotated through the 5 stations, each station focused on a skill. The activities included creating and practicing their sales pitch by identifying their personal goal and their troop goal. They learned product knowledge and facts, they created bracelets with their troop number and goal setting. They practiced their money counting skills and order taking, and lastly communications skills and strategy. Patrol officer, Ariana Bacon from Farmington Police Department gave the girls a speech on how to sell cookies safely. Feedback from girls and troops today was “enjoyed the games, bracelet making, seeing my friends, coloring, everything was fun.”
Each girl that participated can start selling Girl Scout Cookies starting today. Girls who didn’t, start selling, 1/27/25. Customers can buy cookies through a Girl Scout in many ways. If you know a Girl Scout, wait for her to reach out, expect an email, text, or QR code to go to her direct site and order them.
