Farmington Police Officer Jesse Dixon Leads Cornhole Tournament Raising Over $5,000 for the Travis
Mills Foundation

On May 5, Maine DeMolay, led by Farmington Police Officer Jesse Dixon, hosted a
cornhole tournament at the Anah Shrine Temple in Bangor to raise funds for the Travis Mills Foundation.
The event brought together businesses, individuals, and competitive teams, all united in support of a cause
dedicated to aiding post-9/11 recalibrated veterans and their families.
The tournament saw multiple teams battling for the top prize of $200, while a custom-built Travis Mills
Foundation cornhole set, donated by Gary Dixon, was raffled off. Thanks to generous donations and
enthusiastic participation, the event raised $5,000 for the foundation.
Dixon shared his inspiration for organizing the fundraiser:
“I have always had a high amount of respect for our military personnel and their families. The sacrifices
not only the military personnel take to put their life on the line for our country but the families sacrifice
for having a loved one go to another country to fight for us. These sacrifices usually go unseen, and it
shouldn’t. On top of that, the struggles military personnel and their families deal with after coming back
from war are unfathomable. The Travis Mills Foundation helps those personnel and families who have
setbacks and struggles.”
Dixon has especially been inspired by the motto of U.S. Army SSG (Ret.) Travis Mills: “Never Give Up.
Never Quit.” Travis is one of five quadruple amputees from the Global War on Terror to survive his
injuries.
The Travis Mills Foundation is a nonprofit organization dedicated to supporting post-9/11 recalibrated
veterans and their families through programs that promote health and wellness, along with connection
with one another.
