Auburn-The Musical ‘1776’ Opens October 25 at Community Little Theatre

The Community Little Theatre (CLT) production of the musical “1776,” will open on October 25.

Kicking off CLT’s 85th consecutive season, “1776” tells the story of John Adams, Benjamin Franklin, Thomas Jefferson, and others as they fight for independence against a deadlocked Continental Congress in a musical filled with humor, romance, and tension. The seminal event in American history blazes to life in this unconventional Broadway hit, which won three Tony Awards, including Best Musical. “1776” puts a human face on the pages of history as we see the real men behind the names we have known for so long.

The show is directed by Celeste Philippon assisted by musical director Linda Vaillancourt, producer/costumer Jane Mitchell, stage manager Brandon Chaloux, assistant director Mark Hazard, and assistant director/choreographer Eileen Messina.

The cast consists of Mark Dils as John Adams, Roger Philippon as Benjamin Franklin, Grayson Smith as Thomas Jefferson, Gerry Therrien as Edward Rutledge, John Blanchette as  John Dickinson, Glenn Davis as Richard Henry Lee, Sarah Duncan as Abigail Adams, Danielle Robichaud as Martha Jefferson, Jason Riethmann as Charles Thomson, Jeff Fairfield as Roger Sherman, Joe Cormier as Robert Livingston, Jim McKinley as Andrew McNair, Rowland Hazard as The Courier, Dan Kane as James Wilson, Bob Bohren as John Hancock, Duane Glover as Stephen Hopkins, Dan Crawford as Col. Thomas McKean, Phil Vampatella as Caesar Rodney, Geoff Pike as Samuel Chase, Jacob Osborne as Dr. Lyman Hall, Chip Morrison as  Rev. John Witherspoon, Chris Kuhlthau as Lewis Morris, Joe Daniels as Dr. Josiah Bartlett, Greg Lambert as George Read, Nicole Emery as Joseph Hewes, James Vaillancourt and Elijah Morissette as the Leather Apron and the Painter.

Performances will start at 7:30 p.m. on October 25, 26, 31, November 1 and 2. Matinees will be held on October 27 and November 3 beginning at 2:00 p.m. Tickets are $25 for adults, $22 for seniors/students, and $17 for children aged 13 and under.
