Western Maine Play Museum Announces Matching Challenge Thanks to Generous Community Donor

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Wilton, Maine (October 1, 2024) – The Western Maine Play Museum (WMPM) is thrilled to announce a generous matching challenge from local community members Chris & Andy Cook. The Cook’s, whose grandchildren are museum members and frequent visitors, has pledged to match all donations up to $10,000 made between now and December 31, 2024.

“The Western Maine Play Museum is a vital resource for our community,” says Chris & Andy Cook. “I’ve seen firsthand the joy and learning that takes place within its walls, and I believe in the importance of play in fostering early learning in young children. I’m excited to double the impact of every donation made to the museum during this critical time.”

The Western Maine Play Museum is a non-profit organization located in Wilton, Maine. Our
mission is to inspire children, connect families, and build community through exploration,
learning, and play. The museum offers a variety of interactive exhibits, programs, and events
designed to spark children’s imaginations and foster their social, emotional, and cognitive
growth.

“We are incredibly grateful for the Cook’s generosity and their commitment to our mission,” says Nikki Dustin, WMPM Executive Director. “This matching challenge will boost the impact of our annual fundraising efforts, allowing us to continue providing essential resources and programs that benefit countless children and families throughout western Maine.”

The official launch of the WMPM’s annual fundraising appeal is set for Giving Tuesday, December 3rd, 2024. However, contributions made now will be doubled by the Cook’s matching offer.

Contributions to the WMPM are more vital than ever. As many small, local nonprofits have faced financial challenges in the aftermath of the COVID-19 pandemic, our beloved museum is no exception. The generous support of local donors can make a profound difference in the lives of countless children and their families. Funds raised through the museum’s annual appeal will help to ensure that the WMPM can continue to provide enriching educational experiences, spark curiosity, and foster a love of learning in our community’s youngest members. Every contribution, no matter the size, brings us closer to preserving this invaluable resource for generations to come.
