SLLMF TO PERFORM SEVEN DISCOVERY AND HEALING CONCERTS IN WESTERN MAINE

The Sebago-Long Lake Music Festival is excited to announce that it is performing four Discovery Concerts and three Healing Concerts in the Lakes Region of Western Maine in July. The Healing Concerts are open primarily to residents, and the Discovery Concerts are Open to the Public Free of Charge or by donation only.
“Our mission is to bring live chamber music to the lakes region of western Maine”, remarked Carol Madsen of SLLMF Board of Trustees. “Folks often become enchanted with chamber music when they hear it, especially in smaller settings. So, we hold Discovery Community Concerts every year to give people the experience. We hope some will then join us at Deertrees Theatre on Tuesday evenings during the Festival. But either way, we want to give folks the experience. This year we are doing something we haven’t done in a while; holding an event especially for kids, an Instrument Zoo.”
On Sunday, July 14 at 3:00pm at the Bear Mountain Inn + Barn, 364 Waterford Rd., Waterford, an Instrument Zoo will be held. Free and Open to the Public, it’s for All Ages, but children are especially welcome. Instruments being introduced include the flute, oboe, clarinet, French horn, bassoon, violin, viola, cello, and piano. Following a 45-minute performance and introduction to each instrument, Jessica and Nick Orgo will host a complementary reception with light appetizers, kid-friendly food and beverages, and a cash bar. Music Director Mihae Lee has invited the musicians to stay for the reception. Jessica Orgo said, “ I am a lover of classical music and am so excited to introduce our daughters to the genre and to the musicians. It is a wonderful opportunity for my family and others among our old and new friends to experience this kind of music. We look forward to hosting Mihae Lee, the Festival musicians, and all our friends and family who join us on July 14th.”
Other Discovery Concerts in the lakes region are on Friday, July 26, and Saturday, July 27.
On July 26, a string quartet of SLLMF artists will perform at McLaughlin Garden & Homestead, 97 Main St., S. Paris. This beautiful antique barn and exterior garden has been a venue for several years and attracts an excellent crowd of all ages. Initiated as a healing concert several years ago to benefit the Cancer Resource Center of Western Maine, this year a suggested donated of $15 will be used to support McLaughlin Garden, CRCWM, and SLLMF. Iced Tea and Cookies will be served.
On Saturday, July 27, Flute & Cello performances will be held at the Rufus Porter Museum of Art & Ingenuity’s newly completed Graham Center, 121 Main St., Bridgton, at 3:00 pm and at the Waterford Congregational Church, 15 Plummer Hill Rd., Waterford, partnering with the Waterford Library, at 6:00 pm. Both are Free and Open to the Public, with Donations welcomed.
Sebago-Long Lake Music Festival is in its 52nd season and performs Tuesday evenings at 7:30 pm between July 16 and August 13 at Deertrees Theatre in Harrison, Maine.
