Topsham Public Library 20th Birthday Party

TOPSHAM – Join us on at Topsham Public Library on June 22nd from 10 a.m. – 12 p.m. to celebrate our 20th Birthday! That’s right, time flies! We have been in our “new” building at Foreside Road, Topsham for 20 years! Join us for cake, crafts, and games! There will also be a photo booth! Topsham’s own Peter Boie, magician extraordinaire, will be here from 11 a.m. – 12 p.m. and will be strolling around performing up-close magic tricks.

The Topsham Public Library has been in existence since 1803 and has changed locations several times. In 1941, Sarah Whitten left her family home at 8 Pleasant Street, Topsham to the library so that it could have a home. By the end of the 1990s, however, it had outgrown the Whitten house, and the Town voted to help the library establish a permanent home on Foreside Road. The Topsham Public Library moved into a brand-new building built especially for the library on June 5, 2004. Here we are 20 years later!

Peter Boie first became fascinated with magic at the age of 11 when he stumbled across a magic book at his local library—take a guess which library that was. That’s right, the Topsham Public Library! He performed his first professional show for the library at the age of 16, and he has never looked back. Peter tours theaters, colleges, corporate events and schools across the country, has been featured on the hit TV show Penn & Teller Fool Us and is a best-selling magic inventor. We’re incredibly excited to welcome him back to perform at his home library!

This event is free and open to the public.

The Topsham Public Library is at 25 Foreside Road in Topsham. All programs are open to the public. For more information, call Topsham Public Library, at 725-1727 or visit the library website: www.topshamlibrary.org.
