VFW Post #9 awards students for outstanding essays
GARDINER – The Bagley-Gardiner-Foster, Post #9, Veterans of Foreign Wars recently presented awards to the 2024 Patriot’s Pen winners. VFW Post 9 treated the entire 8th-grade class to ice cream and cake as a thank-you for their participation.
Over 100 Gardiner Regional Middle School (GRMS) students wrote Patriot’s Pen essays on the topic “How Are You Inspired by America?” for this year’s contest. The winners were: Preston Hesketh, 1st Place; Murphy Eastman, 2nd Place; and Lilly Moulton, 3rd Place. Mr. James Mrazik and Mrs. Smith assisted VFW Post 9 with conducting the essay competition.
Additionally, Mrs. Angela Smith, GRMS, was nominated and received VFW Teacher of the Year from Post 9 and for Kennebec County.
