Day of Advocacy for Vaccines at the State House February 13, 2024

[Augusta, Maine – Maine Families for Vaccines, in collaboration with partner organizations, is proud to announce the Day of Advocacy for Vaccines, taking place on Tuesday, February 13, in the Hall of Flags at our State House. This event will celebrate Maine’s leadership in public health, highlight the success of Maine’s childhood vaccine law, and draw attention to education and access efforts from community partners.

The Day of Advocacy for Vaccines will kick off at 9:00 am with advocates from various organizations available for discussions and to provide valuable resources. Confirmed participants include the Maine Immunization Coalition and Maine Primary Care Association, Maine Families for Vaccines, the Maine Chapter of the American Academy of Pediatrics, Maine Public Health Association, Maine Medical Association, New England Arab American Organization, New Mainers Public Health Initiative, Maine Association of School Nurses, Maine Osteopathic Society, Maine Academy of Family Physicians, Maine Children’s Alliance, Disability Rights Maine, Maine Community Action Partnership, Maine Council of Churches, and Physicians Standing Up for Healthcare.

Northern Light Health Home Care and Hospice will provide a free vaccine clinic from 10:00 am to 12:30 pm, allowing attendees to access important vaccinations conveniently.

At 11:30 am, the Flavors Hook Kids campaign will hold a press conference on the steps of the Hall of Flags. This will be followed by the Vaccine coalition press conference from 11:30 am to 12:00 pm, featuring Representative Sam Zager, MD, Caitlin Gilmet from Maine Families for Vaccines, and Sydney Sewall, MD, MPH, a practicing pediatrician and past president of the Maine chapter of the AAP. 

Lunch will be provided at 12:15 pm, followed by adjournment at 1:00 pm.
