PORTLAND, ME — Join Portland Downtown, the Portland Sustainability Office, and other local organizations for Portland PARK(ing) Day this Friday, September 15 from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. in downtown City of Portland.
People across the world temporarily repurpose street parking spaces into tiny parks dubbed “parklets” each PARK(ing) Day, making them spaces for art, play, and activism.
The 2023 parklets in Portland, ME are hosted by Portland Downtown, Portland Sustainability Office, EcoMaine, GoMaine, Portland Society for Architecture, Bicycle Coalition of Maine, and Portland Trails. A map of parklet locations is available here.
Each organization will bring something fun and unique to their space, including an outdoor photo gallery and “Where’s Slugger?” game hosted by Portland Downtown and a mini Baxter Woods parklet hosted by the Portland Sustainability Office in honor of that city park’s ongoing restoration.
