Monmouth – The need for kidney donors

I am reaching out on behalf of my Father, Mike Snow, a Monmouth resident who is in need of a new kidney.  He was born with only one kidney, which is rapidly failing, and he is in need of a transplant at only age 60. We are trying to spread the word and encourage people to get screened to see if they could be an eligible donor.  Mike worked for the State of Maine for over 25 years until having to take early medical retirement last year, and we are hoping to connect with some former coworkers who might be willing to help, as well as the larger community.

Mike is very hopeful to find a donor so that he can enjoy time with his partner, Carmen, and their 3 young grandchildren.  We wonder if you may be willing to help share his need, and shine a light on him and the other 100,000 folks in the U.S who are in need of an organ transplant.  It can take years for deceased donor kidneys to be available to those in need, and most patients cannot wait that long.  Living donation of a spare kidney can cut that wait down, and the kidney tends to function longer for the recipient, leading to a better quality of life!
