PORTLAND, Maine-American Red Cross, Aug 1 2023

Jul. 312023

PORTLAND, Maine,  — Join the American Red Cross as we kick off an exciting $3.6 million investment into the future of humanitarian service in Maine.

Together with elected officials, community leaders and national and local Red Cross representatives, we will celebrate the beginning of an extensive modernization project for our Forest Avenue location. This significant redesign will strengthen Red Cross operations in Maine, bringing Biomedical Services, Humanitarian Services and Training Services under one roof in Portland. Upgrades will be made to the blood donor center, mobile staging, collections, training and conference rooms, functional office spaces and common areas.

This project is generously supported by $871,000 in federal funding from the Health Resources and Services Administration, made possible through bipartisan support, in the Fiscal Year 2022 Appropriations process and remains open to additional community support.

We will be joined by U.S. Senator Susan Collins, Trevor Riggen, Red Cross President of Humanitarian Services, as well as local Red Cross leaders, volunteers and community partners.
