Memorial Mass to be held for Lewiston priest’s mother April 18

LEWISTON –A memorial Mass for Alphonsa Mary Santhiyagu, the mother of the Rev. Arockiasamy Santhiyagu “Fr. Samy,” HGN, will be held at 6 p.m. Tuesday, April 18, at Holy Family Church, 607 Sabattus St. All are welcome.
Santhiyagu’s mother passed died in late February, he returned to India for the funeral.
“Now that he is back in Maine, we would like to invite all lay people from around the diocese and all priests of his community to join us for the Memorial Mass,” said the Rev. Daniel Greenleaf, pastor of Prince of Peace Parish.
Santhiyagu is a hospital chaplain at Central Maine Medical Center, St. Mary’s Regional Medical Center, St. Mary’s d’Youville Pavilion and St. Mary’s Residences.

Santhiyagu is a member of the Heralds of Good News, a missionary society of apostolic life started in India in 1984. The specific aim of the Heralds is to promote vocations to the priesthood and the training of seminarians. There are 10 members of the society serving in the Diocese of Portland
