Oxford County SWD native plant sale fundraiser is underway

SOUTH PARIS – The Oxford County Soil and Water District Native Plant and Seed sale is underway.
The sale is one of OCSWD’s biggest fundraisers of the year and proceeds support educational programs in Oxford County.
All orders must be received by Friday, May 12. Pickup is Friday, May 26 Oxford County Cooperative Extension, 9 Olson Road.
A list of native plants for beginning to advanced gardeners throughout the county and surrounding area is available. Wildflower seed mixes with native and naturalized annuals and perennials are also available. There is also a large selection of flowering perennials, herbs, groundcovers, edible plants, shrubs, and trees.
Nearly 1,500 species of native plants are found in Maine. They provide food, fiber and habitat for wildlife and humans. Learn to protect the integrity of our landscape by going native. The sale provides gardeners with native plants that have not been dug from the wild and no invasive non-native species are included. In addition, OCSWD has information on growing specific types of gardens, from pollinator to rain gardens, as well as erosion control, native conservation areas and more.
