AUGUSTA – The Augusta Elks Festival of Trees will be held from Dec. 6 to 10 at Augusta Elks Lodge 964, 397 Civic Center Drive.
Proceeds will benefit Bread of Life Ministries, which has a soup kitchen, two homeless shelters, dozens of apartments, case management and a benevolence fund to provide hope and a helping hand to those in need throughout the Capital region. The Elks choose the organization because, in addition to immediate needs, Bread of Life also aids in developing specific goals around housing, employment and other resources to help people get back on their feet.
Hours are 3 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 6 through Thursday, Dec. 8; noon to 7 p.m. Friday, Dec. 9; 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 10.
Admission is $2, and tickets are 10 for $5. Dozens of area businesses and organizations sponsor decorated trees with gifts underneath; place tickets in the candy cane box in front of trees you’d like to win. Winners win the tree itself, all decorations and all the gifts under it.
Winners will be notified Sunday, Dec. 11.
Santa will make an appearance for photos with kids 5 to 7 p.m. Friday and 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday. There will also be face-painting and coloring on Saturday, Dec.10.
