BRIDGTON – The Loon Echo Land Trust 2022 Trek for the Trails begins Sept. 1.
The Trek is LELT’s largest annual fundraising event, with 100% of the $20 registration fee going toward helping to maintain the trust’s trails, and building new ones.
To participate, register, and then visit any LELT trail or preserve (click here to find LELT preserves) in September to hike, walk, bike (on trails where biking is permitted) or take in the view. Send in or post and tag a selfie of your visit with LELT.
Trail runners can compete for the best time via Strava segment on three trail running routes – Pleasant Mountain, Bald Pate, and Raymond Community Forest to compete for pie (and bragging rights). Trekkers can also choose to raise money from friends and family.
Find the Loon mascot at four different locations at preserves during the Trek. The first 10 people to submit a photo of themselves with the Loon in all four locations will win a Cotopaxi Fanny Pack courtesy of Ski Hot Ski Shop.
All Trek participants are invited to a celebration on Friday, Sept. 30, and will automatically be entered into a raffle for prizes from local businesses, including a 2022-23 season pass to Shawnee Peak Ski Area, gift cards from Bridgton Books, a two-night stay at Pleasant Mountain Camping, and more.
The Trek is free for youth 16 and under. Register at LELT.org/trek.
