WATERVILLE — Kennebec Valley Community Action Program’s eighth annual Golf Tournament raised $27,000 to fill a crucial gap in funding, allowing KVCAP to continue providing transportation for seniors to critical medical appointments, including dialysis and cancer treatments, when they are not eligible for MaineCare rides.
The tournament took place June 24 at Lakewood Golf Club, in Madison.
The first place gross winning team was DOBA, and Skowhegan Savings earned second place. Animal Medical Clinic earned first place for net score and C&C Realty came in second place. James York, Carl Goody, Mike Charmard and Sean Bradley each scored closest to the pin on four holes, and the longest drive winners were Marsha Adams (women) and Barrett Moore (men).
This event continues to be held in memory of Mark K. Johnston, who was KVCAP’s chief financial officer for more than 20 years and was a staunch supporter of Community Action, helping people and changing lives. Johnston died in 2018 and is greatly missed.
