Students from across Maine earn MCHP degrees

LEWISTON – Residents from across Maine were among the graduates May 6 of Maine College of Health Professions.
The college granted 51 associate of applied science in nursing degrees, 18 associate of applied science in radiologic technology, four bachelor of science in nursing, one bachelor of science in health care administration, and four bachelor of science in medical imaging, in a ceremony held at Merrill Auditorium, in Portland.
Graduates, friends, and family gathered with faculty, staff, and administration to honor the accomplishments of the class of 2022, which endured and persevered in the midst of the pandemic. Providing reflections of the class were Grace Burchard, of Lewiston, 2022 nursing class president; Taylor Maddocks, of East Andover, 2022 Medical Imaging Advisory Council student representative; Amber Lewis, of Auburn, 2022 bachelor of science in nursing graduate; Cole Harrado, of Winthrop, 2022 Bachelor of Science in Medical Imaging Graduate.
To recognize students who demonstrate leadership qualities, display concern and understanding for others, make decisions and assume responsibility for their actions, and establish trust in their interactions with others, the MCHP Board of Trustees Award was presented to Bahja Abdi (nursing), of Raymond, N.H., and Phoebe Morrison (Radiology), of Old Orchard Beach.
MCHP President’s Awards for the senior associate of science students attaining the highest academic achievements went to Burchard and Mackenzie Arsenault (radiologic technology), of Lewiston. The award is given to the students with the highest GPA in each program of study.
