Apr. 12022

Gov. Janet Mills with Jan Goranson, owner of Goranson Farm in Dresden, on Maine Maple Sunday March 26. Annually, maple syrup contributes an estimated $55 million in output, over 800 full- and part-time jobs, and more than $26 million in labor income to Maine’s economy. Maine is the third-largest producer of maple syrup in the U.S. Maine Maple Sunday events were curtailed the past two years because of the COVID-19 pandemic, but more than 100 sugarhouses across the state had in-person events this year to kick off the maple sugaring season, and most reported big crowds and long lines.
