Field name is next step at Lewiston’s new Mike McGraw Park

LEWISTON — On the heels of the successful naming initiative for Mike McGraw Park, the Lewiston Youth Advisory Council is offering a field naming sponsorship opportunity at the park.
“A field sponsorship is important because we want to ensure that the field will have longevity for generations to come,” Emily Fournier, LYAC member, said.
Sponsorship will be $5,000 annually for 10 years, with funding used for field maintenance, irrigation, signs and other sustainability needs.
The park, on Bartlett Street, is intended as a safe, welcoming space for Lewiston youth, and LYAC believes that sponsorship would also benefit the sponsor, since naming would be prominently displayed in a well-used traffic area.
For more information, visit www.lewistonmaine.gov/sponsor. Submission forms are also available at the Lewiston City Administrator’s Office, 27 Pine St. The form asks why the applicant is interested in sponsorship, and if it’s a business why such an opportunity would be meaningful.
Youth members will review submissions with municipal staff to select the field naming sponsor, with a goal of bringing additional energy to the area.
The park was recently named Mike McGraw Park after the long-time Lewiston High School teacher and coach, who was the epitome of unity, collaboration and encouraging others to reach their potential. The field naming sponsorship chosen will complement those attributes. In addition, the field naming sponsorship selected will be subject to Lewiston City Council approval and must be in compliance with city and school policies related to such opportunities.
