WATERVILLE– Bruce Rueger, vice chair of Kennebec Valley District of Scouting, was presented the the Daniel Carter Beard Scouter Award in recognition of his dedication to both the Masons and Scouting on Oct. 26, by Richard Nadeau, Maine Mason’s grand master.
“I was totally humbled to receive the award,” Rueger, of Waterville, said upon receiving the national recognition. “My grandfather, who was also a Mason, would have been proud.”
The award is presented to Masons who practice the ideals of Freemasonry as well as act as role models to the youth who are involved in Scouts.
“Receiving this is right up there with receiving my Eagle Scout award, Vigil Honor and Silver Beaver,” Rueger said. “This is a recognition that I didn’t seek, but for what others saw in me. I hope I am worthy.”
