Free courses on self-employment, money management set for November

AUGUSTA — New Ventures Maine is hosting a variety of free online workshops and classes in November to help people in Maine start a business, build a career and manage money.
Some are one session only and others span multiple sessions; a few classes are self-paced.

Classes include;
Introduction to Self-Employment, 6:30-7:30 p.m., Thursday, Nov. 4. Covers the pros and cons of owning your own business, the steps needed for start-up, the major elements of a business plan and available resources.
Matched Savings Information Session, 4-5 p.m. Monday, Nov. 8. Matched savings programs such as the Rainy Day Savings and Family Development Account programs can help you save for a goal by matching your savings. How the programs work and eligibility.
Job Search Series, 10-11 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 9-23. Participants may join some or all of the sessions. Nov. 9: Job Search Strategies, Nov. 16: Resume Strategies, Nov. 23: Interview Strategies.
Work for Yourself @50+, 10-11:30 a.m., Thursday, Nov. 18. The session breaks the choices down for older adults in an approachable way through five steps; it is a careful consideration of the potential benefits and risks of working for yourself.
