Rumford logging company honored by PLC

BANGOR – A Rumford logging company received the Professional Logging Contractors of Maine President’s Award at the organization’s 25th annual meeting Friday, Oct. 29.
The dinner included awards presented to businesses, individuals and legislators from across Maine for their outstanding contributions to the logging industry.
Jim Nicols, of Nicols Brothers Inc., of Rumford, was presented the PLC President’s Award, which is given to individuals or organizations within the PLC that have a significant and positive impact on the PLC and the logging industry in Maine.
State Sen. Russell Black, of Wilton, was also one of three politicians presented with the PLC Impact Award, which recognizes someone from the public sector who has demonstrated a commitment to the industry and has made a significant impact for its improvement. Black shared the award with U.S. Sen. Susan Collins, R-Maine; and U.S. Rep. Jared Golden, D- Maine 2nd District.
Other awards were Logger of the Year, Thomas Logging and Forestry, Guilford; Community Service Award, Treeline Inc. of Chester; Acadia Insurance Safety Award, Carl Morneau, Morneau Logging, of Chapman; Supporting Member Award, Northeast Center for Occupational Health and Safety in Agriculture, Forestry and Fishing; Master Logger Supporters Award: Sam Lincoln, Lincoln Farm and Timber Harvesting, Randolph Center Vt.
