WATERVILLE – Alfond Youth & Community Center and Mid-Maine Chamber of Commerce are partnering to present Festival of Trees this holiday season, continuing a tradition begun by the Sukeforth family in 2015.
When the family determined it would no longer host the event, AYCC and the Chamber stepped up to preserve the festival. Besides continuing a local holiday tradition, money raised by the festival supports families in the community experiencing food insecurity. The festival benefits AYCC and chamber programs that help the community.
The festival will include more than 60 trees, each uniquely decked out. The festival will be held Nov. 19-21 and 26-28 at The Elm, 21 College Ave. Hours will be 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Friday and Saturday, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 21, and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 28.
Festival of Trees will provide an experience the whole family can enjoy. Admission for ages 12 and over is $2; children 12 and under are admitted for free.
Those attending buy and drop individual tree tickets into the bucket of the trees they like. Tickets are drawn, with winners bringing home the decorated tree, as well as the gift cards and merchandise displayed with it.
Volunteers to help staff with the event are welcome.
