Free Sheepscot pasture managment walk and talk is Sept. 15

WHITEFIELD — Farmers can learn about grazing and pasture management and best practices to ensure water quality along the Sheepscot River watershed and subwatershed in a free session from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 15, at Sheepscot Valley Farm, 163 Townhouse Road.
Knox-Lincoln Soil & Water Conservation District, in partnership with the USDA-Natural Resources Conservation Service, is hosting a Pasture Management Walk and Talk that will cover grazing and pasture management and best practices to enhance soil health and water quality. Technical and financial assistance to implement the practices will be discussed while participants walk the Sheepscot Valley Farm. Emphasis will be on how sound pasture management benefits soil health and water quality.
Presenters includ: Peter Abello, district conservationist at NRCS-USDA and Alice Begin, resource conservationist at NRCS-USDA. The program is free to the public, but space is limited and registration is required by Monday, Sept. 13.
